Gain levels aren’t too hot, not too weak. Plate voltage is a really cool feature. The Art Pro MPii works for both instruments and especially well suited as a microphones tube preamp. I still plan to purchase higher quality preamps some day, but for the moment, this twin channel preamp will do just fine! When the mic is plugged directly into my Roland Octa Capture the Auto Sens will set the mic gain around 45 out of the max 50 to get a good fat track, there is a definite noise on the Roland Pre’s. Now plug the Output cable from the Art Pro into the Roland, and use Auto Sens, and the setting becomes about a 5 out of 50. Same full trace on the track – but the noise floor is ZERO.

At this price point you wont be sorry, In fact you’ll probably wish you would have gotten one or maybe even two sooner. I really was blown away by the sound and features of the ART Pro MPA II . This added a touch to the vocals that no plugin could match.
I would like to know whether the line level input should be set at high gain or low gain in my focusrite 816 after coming out from my MIC200. At line level your Fast Track is acting simply as an audio converter. It shouldn’t affect the sound too much since you’re boosting any gain with it. I’m not sure, but you would want to put the guitar and bass into an INSTRUMENT input, not a LINE input.
